The Grand Loop: From the Ocean to the Clouds

Start from the South

This is a full-day expedition starting and ending in Los Cristianos, which is the essence of the “continent in miniature” that Tenerife represents. The route takes us along the western coast, through the green north, and into the heart of Teide National Park, offering an incredible cross-section of landscapes. Of course, along the way we stop at strategic viewpoints to capture these changing sceneries.

To make the most of the day and ensure we see all the planned attractions, we highly recommend bringing your own provisions (e.g., sandwiches). Our sightseeing schedule is intense, while the local pace of life can be… unhurried. Waiting times in restaurants—even for simple dishes—can take up to an hour, so having your own snacks is the best way to avoid losing precious moments waiting at a table.

 

We guarantee the tour’s departure regardless of the number of participants. We travel in small groups (maximum 8 people), which means that for smaller bookings, other guests may join the group. However, the tour will take place even with as few as two people.

Additional information:

Worth bringing: trekking shoes or at least sports footwear. A warm sweatshirt/windbreaker and comfortable long trousers are also good to have, even if just in a backpack.

What we will see along the route:

Los Gigantes

The famous “Walls of Hell” are cliffs that plunge vertically into the ocean from heights of up to 600 meters. We will stop at a viewpoint from which their monumental power and the contrast between dark rock and blue water can best be seen.

Masca

A village hidden deep in a gorge, reached by one of the most exciting and winding roads in Europe. Known as the “Canarian Machu Picchu,” this former pirate hideout offers dramatic views of jagged peaks and sheer canyon walls. We will stop here for a coffee with an absolutely spectacular view, to absorb this unique atmosphere without rushing. It is worth remembering that a full hike through the gorge is a demanding, many-hour expedition, which is why we focus on admiring the panorama and relaxing in this incredible scenery.

Garachico

A symbolic town that was reborn after being flooded by lava in 1706. While walking here, we will see El Caletón – natural rock pools formed by solidified lava flowing into the ocean – as well as beautiful historic architecture.

Puerto de la Cruz

The oldest tourist resort on the island, which has preserved its Canarian, colonial character. A moment to breathe during a short walk along the promenade by the turbulent Atlantic or for a coffee in the shade of plane trees at the charming Plaza del Charco.

Teide National Park

Approaching from the north, we will experience a spectacular change of landscape – breaking through the “sea of clouds” to land in a raw, lunar world at the foot of the volcano. We will see rivers of solidified lava and unique rock formations in one of the most important national parks in the world.

Vilaflor

Located at an altitude of 1,400 meters above sea level, it is one of the highest villages in Spain. Surrounded by dense pine forests (Canary pine), it is an oasis of peace and clean air, providing a perfect farewell to the mountains before descending to the coast.
